To Be Canned For Consuming Alcohol

A woman was fined RM5,000 and ordered to be caned six times by the Kuantan Syariah High Court after she pleaded guilty to consuming alcohol in public. She is expected to undergo her caning sentence after her audience with the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang.
She was among 15 party goers arrested by the Pahang Religious Department for consuming liquor in public during an operation dubbed Ops Taubat. Another 11 others were picked up for allegedly committing khalwat or close proximity during the raid on three nightspots around the town centre.
