Anwar Sodomy Trial

High Court Justice Arifin Jaka begins hearing case against Anwar and his adopted brother Sukma Darmawan Sasmitaat Madja for allegedly sodomising (engaging in an unnatural sexual intercourse) Anwar's family driver Azizan Abu Bakar. Azizan testifies in court he was sodomised 10 to 15 times by Anwar between 1992 and 1993.
Dirty linden was washed in the public over the next 117 days as it spread over 14 months. Even soiled mattress was paraded. Azizan told the High Court in Kuala Lumpur that he stood by his statement that he had been repeatedly sodomised by Anwar. Mr Azizan described how Mr Anwar would often call him to perform what he termed a "heinous act" even though he tried to decline. He claimed that Anwar had made him his "homosexual slave". However during cross-examination, Mr Azizan wavered on his testimony, prompting defence accusations that his story was inconsistent and contradictory.
