Menara Matrade on 23 May 2006, Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz at handing over of Matrade office to Miti from the Public Works Department which was represented by Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, at Menara Matrade project site, Bangunan Matrade, Jln Duta, KL, 9am after a nine years delay. Work on the building in Jalan Duta began in 1994 and was targeted for completion in 1997. Due to several delays and the appointment of a new contractor, the original cost of RM167mil ballooned to RM287.5mil, with RM64.8mil spent on repairs.

Rafidah said agencies under her ministry like Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Small and Medium Industries Development Corporation (Smidec) and National Productivity Centre (NPC) would start operating from Menara Matrade from early next year.

Menara Matrade have conference facilities, trade display area and international level support services, Menara Matrade will have a comprehensive infrastructure to promote Malaysian products and services. A bigger display area of 13,100 square metres, more local companies would be able to showcase their products and services. The Menara Matrade facilities include two theatrettes, a plenary hall with capacity for 2,000 people, a seminar room and rooms to host business matching sessions and incoming buying missions.
