National Monument - Kuala Lumpur

National Monument is geographically located at latitude 3° 8' 56" North of the Equator and longitude 101° 41' 1" East of the Prime Meridian on the Map of Malaysia. National Monument was designed by the famous sculptor, Felix de Weldon, this 15.54m high bronze monument was constructed in 1966 to honour the country's fallen heroes during the Communist in surgency. It is one of the largest freestanding sculptures in the world. In 1975, the monument suffered extensive damage due to an explosion set off by a communist terrorist.
