The 1959 Malayan general election was the first general election held since the Federation of Malaya first achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1957. It was the third national-wide election held in Malaya since the end of World War II. Malaya later formed Malaysia with three other states in 1963.

Article 11 in the constitution gave every person “the right to profess and practice his religion.” Pro-bumiputra (sons of the soil) discrimination was laid down in the constitution to ease Malays’ fears of being marginalized by Chinese and Indian migrants.
Kuala Lumpur Airport Expanded

Expansion of the Kuala Lumpur Airport at Sungai Besi when the building of the terminal building. The Terminal building was for many years an atap shed where communications equipment were unreliable and often aircraft landed without traffic control.
