Mines%20North%20Lake is geographically located at latitude 3° 2' 7" North of the Equator and longitude 101° 42' 42" East of the Prime Meridian on the Map of Malaysia. Mines North Lake used to be the Sungei Besi open-cast tin mine, and was the deepest in the world. The lake is almost 6,000 ft deep as it was once an open cast mine. The mine was listed in the old Guiness Book of Records. When the tin-mining industry went bust in the 1980, the mine closed, and the lake came as a result fo the reflooding. The owner of the mine then turned his fortune around by building a golf course & posh housing neighbourhood to the west, a theme park and shopping centre to the south and a very nice and posh hotel to the north.
