Muar City Centre is geographically located at latitude 2° 2' 45" North of the Equator and longitude 102° 34' 19" East of the Prime Meridian on the Map of Malaysia. Muar is a picturesque town popular for the delicious and inexpensive foods served by foodstalls and restaurants. Muar Town has a small population of around 110,000. The present town of Muar was founded by Sultan Abu Bakar and named as Bandar Maharani (Empress' Town) in 1887. The Muar town bears a striking resemblance to Malacca geographically, culturally and in terms of their inter-connecting historical and commericial roles. Muar is rich in history but due to the absence of proper historical record and archeological evidence, Muar's history mostly remains in oblivion.
